I was thinking, what if she doesn't have curly hair? Any thoughts?

No, Shirley didn't have straight hair, but some of her curls were not hers later during her fame.
Her mom washed her hair with Castile soap and did a vinegar rinse. Supposedly they always put the same amount of curls in her hair.
Mind you I read that as I don't know if it's true.

Curly-ish...so it held a curl...apparently, her mom originally put her hair in curls because otherwise it would be all over the place...
Cant even imagine a kid being patient enough to get 56 curls every day...

I think she did it will they were rehearsing the script, which would be why she was so patient.
