I am introducing a friend's dance mad 3 year old to Shirley Temple movies.
Which movies with a non-military theme would be most suitable? The Little Princess storyline would leave her petrified as her dad is in the military and may go away to 'war soon - way too close for comfort.
I'm looking for happy themes, preferably with lots of dancing - a 3 year old's attention span is only so long!

Hehe, she sounds adorable!
I would recomend showing her Curly Top ( Thats the animal crackers in my soup one) or Captin January ( She's adorable in that too, with a great codfish ball dance routine that I'm sure she'd love).
She would probley like Young People, Shirley made it when she was 12, it doesn't get depressing, and there's some good dancing, but at her age 12 can seem 120 so it might fail to hold her intrest. XD

Curly Top - definitely! Poor Little RIch Girl is good as well... Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm... Baby Take a Bow...
Bright Eyes is probably a bit too sad - cause the mother dies... I would not suggest Wee Willie Winkie, The Littlest Rebel, The Little Princess, or The Little COlonel (given her age)...

I appreciate your responses.
We put on Curly Top and fast forwarded to the piano tapping scene. Miss Three sat mezmerised in front of the TV through 14 hotly demanded replays (yes I counted) and then spent the rest of the afternoon quizzing us as to when the 'little girl' is coming to Australia!
Um, err, that sounds like a question for Miss Three's Mum!
I'm now frantically buying movies to make a dvd collage of the dance routines whilst trying to convince Miss Three to keep off our baby grand piano! And the response? 'But the little girl danced on the piano........' Aarrrrgh!
