Why, oh Why?

Hi there! I'm new to this world of Shirley dolls although since I was little I used to print her paper dolls from websites all over the internet. lol.
I got my very first job a few months ago and today (finally), I sat infront of my pc determined to adopt my very 1st Shirley doll but then I was surprised at the prices. They are really expensive, even on ebay, the prices seem to fly. I wasn't even looking for brand new, minty dollies; I was looking for ones that would need lots of care but still, prices are high.

Why oh why they have to be so expensive?

Anyhow...Do you know where can I look for a not very expensive Shirley Doll? It doesn't have to be a composition one.

Perhaps due to the resale value, which explains why them Shirley dolls sell like bullion in the streets?

Well the one i have is the danbury mint dress up doll from 1992, its not old but is still the cute little shirley doll i've always wanted, and it wasnt very expensive. i think i got my doll with 3 outfits for about fifty dollars on ebay. and she was in mint condition too!!!
